Sous Bois
2013
3 laser cut plywood disks inserted in a rolled ply container, spotlight, concave mirror
29” diameter x 26” deep
Site-‐specific work that spirals downward through layers of maps to reach the underground, superposing an aerial view of the actual site coordinates over a street view, over a map of Montreal’s underground city, over a map of the city’s underground water ways. Each layer consists of laser-‐cut plywood, with the lowest being etched directly onto a mirror, prompting the viewer to see her way through an apparent maze, gazing into the depths – sous bois – before ‘returning’ to her own self.
